Indian Theme Garden Party

Checking photos this weekend, I came across some lovely pictures of an Indian Garden Party earlier this summer. It was great to be reminded of the tented installation, which was absolutely stunning at a gorgeous, manicured, private estate in Atherton. It was a pleasure to work with Kate Owens of Barbara Llewellyn Catering and Event Planning, who pulled all together. The brief was to create an elegant and playful Indian themed party setting for the cocktail reception, dinner and lounges for guests after dinner. Just the kind of party we love at Raj Tents!

The extensive property offered us lots of scope to insert vignettes in different areas, framing views and complementing the landscaping. The main lounge was a Grand Pavilion tent in pink, right in front of a delightful fountain filled with flowers. Other Pavilions and Pergolas worked as bars, smaller lounges and to house the musicians. We even got to roll out one of my favorite pieces – a hand-carved, fully functional fountain made from the same marble the Taj Mahal’s marble was quarried from.

Dinner took place under a Grand Maharaja tent in Dove Egg and Sand, a striking color way that gives great scope for using both warm and cool contrasting tones in the table linens. The buffet was placed in two Pergola tents adjoining the main tent, with a Mughal Arch wall baffle to shield the catering area. Many thanks to Neil Hunt and Trina Littlefield of Huntlittlefield for the fabulous florals – and to Hartmann Studios for the very elegant table settings and linens that were a fabulous match.
